Fort Dodge boys lose to Southeast Polk
PLEASANT HILL — The Christmas break didn’t get the Fort Dodge boys out of their offensive slumber, as the Dodgers dropped a 66-35 decision to Southeast Polk in a CIML Iowa Conference contest here on Friday.
The Rams (4-3 overall) exploded out to a 34-12 halftime lead and never looked back, handing Fort Dodge its eighth straight loss. The Dodgers have failed to reach the 40-point mark in five consecutive contests.
“We missed just about every kind of look we had,” FDSH head coach Tom Daniel said. “Without seeing the final numbers, I doubt we shot better than 25 percent.
“We were also badly outrebounded, and didn’t identify their shooters at all (defensively). There are so many little things and details adding up and snowballing on us right now.”
Senior Tysen Kershaw had 12 points for the Dodgers. Junior Dayson Clayton added seven.
“Tysen and Dayson are doing what they can, and Asle (Thorson) gave us really good minutes. He played hard,” Daniel said. “It’s disappointing, because we worked a lot on our offense during the break. But we keep settling for jump shots, and we aren’t working together as a team consistently enough. In the CIML, that will show.”
Fort Dodge is at Des Moines Roosevelt (1-6) on Tuesday.
