BASKETBALL PREVIEW: Gaels travel to Paton-Churdan

THE TIP: The St. Edmond girls begin a five-game road trek Monday night at Paton-Churdan. Tip is set for 7:45 p.m. They play a North Central Conference doubleheader on Tuesday at Algona beginning at 6:15 p.m.

GIRLS PROBABLES: St. Edmond (0-11 overall, 0-7 in league): Kelli Kersten, jr., 2.4; Cambrie McBride, sr., 8.6; Emma Neverman, sr., 0.8; Aubrey Bemrich, jr., 1.0; Leah Neverman, jr., 9.4.

Paton-Churdan (7-6): Karissa Stephenson, jr., 1.2; Chloe Berns, jr., 8.3; Carmyn Paup, soph., 5.3; Tessa Steimel, jr., 8.7; Danielle Hoyle, jr., 18.1.

Algona (7-5, 5-3): Ashlin Young, sr., 5.3; Abbey Holmes, sr., 16.5; Kameryn Etherington, sr., 7.1; Molly McCauley, sr., 9.1; Aliyah Buscher, sr., 8.1.

LAST TIME OUT: The Gaels dropped a 39-15 decision to Webster City last Friday night. The Rockets earned a 53-44 victory over Coon Rapids-Bayard last Friday. Algona claimed a 51-40 victory at Humboldt last week.

ABOUT THE ROCKETS: After starting 1-2, Paton-Churdan reeled off four consecutive wins in December. They are 2-4 since that run. Danielle Hoyle is shooting almost 61 percent from the field and leads the team with 142 rebounds and 53 blocks.

ABOUT THE BULLDOGS: Earlier in the year, Algona picked up a 60-23 victory over St. Edmond. Molly McCauley leads the team in rebounds and blocks, with Aliyah Buscher and Abbey Holmes sharing the lead in assists. The Bulldogs play at Forest City Monday night.
