Tritons earn first league win

The Iowa Central women picked up their first ICCAC victory of the season here Saturday, topping Southeastern, 57-53.

After dropping their league opener to Iowa Lakes last Wednesday, Iowa Central bounced back to improve to 7-5 on the season.

Justice Crooks scored 16 points and Aaliyah Hull added 14 for the Tritons, who overcame 24 turnovers thanks to a plus-12 advantage on the glass.

Crooks also had seven rebounds, five assists and four steals, with Mardaeja Cross and Isabell West scoring nine each. Cross added eight rebounds and three steals.

Hull also had eight rebounds and did not commit a turnover in the game.

For Southeastern, Emma Knipe and Destiny Trujillo both scored 22 points.

Next action for the Tritons will be on Friday night when they host William Penn JV at 6 p.m. They conclude the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule with Graceland JV inside Hodges Fieldhouse on Saturday at 1 p.m.
