Dodgers entertain DM North/Hoover on mats

OPPONENT: Des Moines North/Hoover.

TIME AND LOCATION: Varsity action will start at approximately 7 p.m. in the Dodger gym. Senior Night festivities will take place before the meet.

SENIOR SALUTE: A talented senior class is being recognized to open the evening’s festivities. Carson Taylor is a defending state champion, while Brooks Cowell, Savion Wheat, Austin Lee and Levi Egli have all been state placewinners. Brandon Mills and Colten Munter are also in the starting lineup. Jacob Laird, Lazaro Lerma, Jorge Luis Blanco, Cooper Rossing and Rilind Bllaca are the other seniors on the roster.

Elle McClintock and Bree Campbell are senior managers.

LAST TIME OUT: Fort Dodge crowned a pair of champions and placed third in the 33-team Cliff Keen Independence Invitational. Drake Ayala and Taylor were titleists.

Egli finished fourth, while Mills and Dreyzon Phillips were fifth. Lee took sixth after having to injury default because of back trouble. He expects to return this week.

Savion Wheat was eighth. Max Bishop and Brooks Cowell both went 5-1 and ended up ninth.

LINEUP CHANGES: Junior Kody Cook will make his season debut for FDSH at 152 pounds. Cook, a state qualifier last season, has been out with a hand injury. Junior Dylan Zimmermann joins the varsity lineup at 170.

ABOUT NORTH/HOOVER: The squad is 1-6 in duals so far, defeating Saydel at the Ken Esling Bluejay Duals last weekend in Bondurant. North/Hoover has losses to West Des Moines Valley (74-3), Des Moines Lincoln (66-17 and 48-24), Ames (59-18), Bondurant-Farrar (69-9) and Boone (48-30) on its ledger so far.

Junior Aime Mukiza is 7-1 at 113 pounds to lead the Huskies.
