Dodger girls come up short at Ankeny
ANKENY — The Fort Dodge girls basketball squad dropped a 57-36 decision to Ankeny here Friday night.
Sophomore Tory Bennett and junior Tristin Doster each scored eight points to lead the Dodgers, who were coming off a 37-point victory in their season opener on Tuesday at Des Moines Lincoln.
Sophomore Aleaha Pommer added seven, and junior Cheyenne Miller-Hameed contributed five.
Ashley Harrington scored a game-high 15 for the Hawkettes (2-1 overall), who led 27-14 at the half.
It was only 39-27 heading into the fourth quarter, but Ankeny delivered an 11-4 burst to pull away.
Fort Dodge (1-1) is at seventh-ranked (Class 5A) Urbandale (3-0) on Saturday at 1:30 p.m., before playing at home for the first time Tuesday vs. Ames.
