Dodger bowling teams in action

The Fort Dodge boys and girls bowling teams dropped contests against Des Moines Lincoln on Tuesday night.

The boys (0-2 overall) lost 3,233 to 3,007. The Fort Dodge girls (1-1) fell 2,631-2,512.

Three Dodger boys had over 400 series, led by Brady Graves’ 439. Graves has games of 225 and 214. Carson Werning and Kaleb Anderson both checked in with 404’s. Werning had a high game of 224 and Anderson had a 211.

Also competing fo rthe Dodgers was Kyle Davis (378), Mitchell Bolten (378) and David Folsom (366). Davis rolled the high single game total with a 242.

“We are bowling very well. Any time you put up 3,000 you expect to win,” said Fort Dodge head coach Nick Vinson. “DM Lincoln bowled really well. You can be happy anytime you have three kids roll over 400 series, and you eclipse the 3,000-mark.

“We know we have a long way to go, but we just have to get consistent.”

For the Dodger girls, defending state champion Leah Sanck checked in with a 397. She had games of 181 and 216. Next in line for the Dodgers was Alexis Kenney, who had a 349 total. She had games of 182 and 167.

Also rolling for the Dodgers was Kat Flores (335), Lexi Hanson (327), Paige Copenhaver (281) and Aryssa Lumsden (231).

“The girls improved their scores by 50 to 60 pins,” Vinson said. “Lincoln is always a good team. They’re a class bigger than us and have to girls that have signed to bowl in college.

“We are know where near our ceiling. Alexis Kenney came through and had a couple of big games.”

The Fort Dodge junior varsity boys won 2,529-2,302. Jayden Ray bowled a 388 with games of 165 and 223.

The girls junior varsity team lost 1,673-1,589. Samantha Breenan had a 231 series.

The Dodgers are back in action on Thursday when they host Southeast Polk.
