Gibb scores 42, but Triton men edged by Northeast

NORFOLK, Neb. — The Iowa Central men’s basketball team dropped a 99-98 decision in overtime to Northeast here Saturday.

Emmette Page made a free throw with three seconds left for the winning points as Jeremiah Hurst’s last-second attempt came up short from deep.

St. Edmond graduate Andrew Gibb scored a career-high 42 points, hitting 12 of 14 field goals, three 3-pointers and all 15 of his shots from the free throw line.

Gibb’s 42 points are tied for the sixth-most in school history in a game with Eddie Reece.

D’Monte Gaw added 16 points, Javonte Keck had eight and 10 rebounds, and both Hurst and Julian Barr finished with seven points.

Hurst also grabbed seven rebounds and Arthur Weston Jr. chipped in with six points and three assists.

Northeast pushed the game to overtime on a Page layup with 21 seconds left.

The Tritons missed two shots in the final seconds that would have given them the win.

Iowa Central returns to action Tuesday at Iowa Western.
