Dodgers sweep Carroll, Spencer in pool

CARROLL — The Fort Dodge girls swim team swept Carroll and Spencer here Thursday night in a triangular.

The Dodgers downed Carroll, 51-43, and Spencer, 58-36, to improve to 8-3 in duals on the season.

Fort Dodge had five individual first place finishes, with Grace Hartley winning two, and two relays.

Hartley was first in both the 200 IM and 500 free, with Eileen Fierke winning the 200 free, Madigan Peimann the 100 back and Elora Fierke the 100 breaststroke.

“It was definitely a good night,” FDSH head coach Ashley Beaumont said. “We had some best times and strong swims. It was really good to see us compete well going into Senior Night (next week) against Mason City. Madigan had a personal-best swim in the 100 back and Eileen did in the 100 free.

“I am very proud of the girls.”

Peimann, Hartley, Rylie Steinkamp and Eileen Fierke were first in the 200 free relay, with the team of Fierke, Hartley, Fierke and Peimann winning the 400 free relay.

Steinkamp was a runner-up in the 100 fly, Eileen Fierke second in the 100 free and Elora Fierke second in the 500 free.

In junior varsity action, Jalen Adams won the 200 free. Claire Kienzle claimed the 200 IM, Maria Elizonda picked up the 100 fly, Isabelle Berger won the 500 free, Olivia Anderson was first in the 100 back

The Dodgers return to action next Thursday when they swim at home vs. Mason City.
