Cougars top raptors

HOLSTEIN — The Manson Northwest Webster football team snapped a five-game skid with a 29-12 victory over Ridge View on Friday night.

Austin Anliker accounted for three touchdowns for the Cougars (2-6 overall, 1-3 district). Anliker had a one-yard and an 11-yard rushing touchdown. He also threw a 22-yard touchdown strike to Tate Bianchi.

Anliker was 12-for-18 passing for 177 yards.

Brayden Johll rushed for 126 yards on 22 carries and scored from 46 yards out for the Cougars.

John Schuttler had 13 tackles for the Cougars.

Southeast Valley snaps losing skid

ESTHERVILLE — Southeast Valley snapped a two-game losing skid with a 24-8 victory over Estherville-Lincoln Central on Friday.

The Jaguars (5-3 overall, 1-2 district) had three touchdowns on the night.

The big play came on an 80-yard touchdown strike from Hunter Kruse to Kolson Kruse. Kruse finished 4-for-7 for 114 yards.

Eli Johnson scored on a four-yard touchdown run and Lathe Muench scored from two yards out.

Lynx fall short against No. 9 DC-G

WEBSTER CITY — The Webster City football team had a chance to pull off an upset over ninth-ranked Dallas Center-Grimes on Friday night, but came up short, 41-27.

The Lynx (5-3 overall, 2-2 district) recovered an onside kick with a little over two minutes remaining, trailing 35-27, but couldn’t cash in.

Trey Mathis and Garrett Whitmore had two touchdowns each for the Lynx, who were held to 209 yards of total offense and a season low 122 on the ground.

Mathis rushed for 92 yards on 23 carries and had two one-yard scores. One of his touchdowns was set up by a 69-yard kickoff return from Whitmore. Whitmore had a seven-yard touchdown jaunt and caught an 87-yard pass from Gabe Humphrey.

Mathis had an interception and Jack Van Diest had 10 tackles.
