Lynx run over Jays

PERRY — The Webster City rushing game was hard to stop again on Friday night, as the Lynx ran for 369 yards in a 50-13 win over Perry.

Garrett Whitmore was the groundhog for the Lynx (4-2 overall, 1-1 district), carrying the ball eight times for 133 yards and three touchdowns. He scored from 50, five and 15 yards.

Trey Mathis had 80 yards on 16 carries and scoring jaunts of six and four yards.

CJ Hisler had 52 yards rushing and a three-yard touchdown.

Gabe Humphrey threw a four-yard touchdown strike to Jack Van Diest.

Humphrey finished with 63 yards on the ground.

Jamin Stuhr recorded a safety for the Webster City defense. Tyler Olson had his Class 3A leading eighth reception.

‘Cats hang tough with No. 10 DC-G

HUMBOLDT — Humboldt nearly pulled off an upset over No. 10 Dallas Center-Grimes on Friday night, but in the end the Mustangs held on for the win.

Jamison Heinz had a big night for the Wildcats (1-5 overall, 0-2 district) rushing for 209 yards on 24 carries and two touchdowns.

Heinz scored on scoring jaunts of 31 and 67 yards.

The Wildcats will host Webster City next Friday.

Wegener records five TDs in rout

ALGONA — Wyatt Wegener put on a show in the limited amount of time he was on the field here Friday night as third-ranked (Class 2A) Algona remained unbeaten.

The Bulldogs downed Clarion-Goldfield/Dows, 41-8, scoring six touchdowns in the first two quarters.

Wegener accounted for five of those touchdowns, catching two TDs from Tyler Manske, running in two scores and returning a punt to the end zone.

Sammonte Bawden also had a touchdown, hitting paydirt from 32 yards out. Isaac Schonert made five extra-points.

Wegener carried the ball just twice, scoring from 39 and 67 yards out for 106 yards rushing. He had four catches for 146 yards, including scores of 69 and 66 yards in the first quarter, with his final TD being a 70-yard punt return.

For the game, Wegener had eight touches for 323 total yards. Manske finished 4-for-5 for 146 yards and two touchdowns, Elliot Berkland ran for 79 yards and Quelub Heidelberg had an interception for the Bulldogs.

Algona finished with 380 yards of total offense on 27 plays, averaging 14 per play. The defense held the Cowboys to 191.

Rafael Jimenez had 85 yards rushing for the Cowboys (1-5, 0-2).

No. 6 Titans hold on to beat Hawks

LAKE CITY — Sixth-ranked (Class 1A) South Central Calhoun pulled away for a 21-6 victory over South Hamilton here Friday night.

Landon Schleisman found the end zone twice and ran for 79 yards, and Blake McAlister ran for 151 yards and a touchdown for the Titans (6-0, 2-0), who have won 23 consecutive regular season games.

Keagen Meyer added 77 yards as South Central Calhoun ran for 372 yards as a team. Zane Neubaum added three extra-point attempts and averaged almost 51 yards on four kickoffs.

The Titan defense held South Hamilton (3-3, 1-1) to 110 yards rushing and 26 yards passing.

Cougars lose at home to IKM-Manning

MANSON — The Manson Northwest Webster football team couldn’t get past IKM-Manning on Friday night.

The Cougars (1-4 overall, 0-2 district) dropped the contest 35-16.

Quarterback Austin Anliker was 19-for-27 for 161 yards. Anliker threw a 72-yard touchdown strike to Kadin Birkey.

Brayden Johll scored from three yards out.

Tate Bianchi had a two-point conversion and he threw a two-point conversion to Birkey.

Johll finished with 23 carries for 97 yards. Birkey had six grabs for 82 yards.

No. 10 Southeast Valley loses to Spirit Lake

SPIRIT LAKE — Spirit Lake shutdown 10th-ranked Southeast Valley 45-0 on Friday night.

The Jaguars (4-2, overall, 1-1 district) couldn’t stop the Indians (4-2, 1-1) who got three rushing touchdowns from Gavin Harms. Harms had scoring runs of three, one and 18 yards.

Quarterback Brent Scott threw a 12-yard touchdown strike to Joe Stein. Kolby Richter also had a four-yard score.

Max Bower kicked a 27-yard field goal.
