No. 3 Bulldogs crush H-D, 50-0

HAMPTON — The third-ranked Algona football team scored a convincing 50-0 victory over Hampton-Dumont here Friday night.

Tyler Manske got the scoring started early with a 57-yard touchdown strike to Wyatt Wegener. Manske was 8-for-11 for 183 yards with three touchdowns on the night.

Wegener had four carries, scoring two rushing touchdowns and recording 103 yards. He also had three receptions for 71 yards and a touchdown.

Sammonte Bawden carried the ball five times for 110 yards with a touchdown, and Garrett Schmidt added 88 yards and a score on the ground.

Jason Cecil caught three passes for 58 yards and a TD, with Schmidt adding two catches for 54 yards and a score.

Algona (2-0 overall) finished the night with 579 yards of total offense, including 396 on the ground.

Jags top Indians

POCAHONTAS — The senior duo of Hunter Kruse and Chase Swieter hooked up twice on scoring plays, as Southeast Valley beat Pocahontas Area 18-7 on Friday night.

The Jaguars (2-0 overall) had 231 yards of total offense, while the Indians (1-1) had 245.

Kruse threw a 14-yard and 48-yard scoring strikes to Swieter.

Lathe Muench had a 37-yard touchdown run to complete the scoring for the Jaguars.

Cage Arends scored the lone touchdown for Pocahontas Area from 18 yards out.

Backfield duo carries Lynx

SPENCER — Trey Mathis and Garrett Whitmore both rushed for over 100 yards as Webster City held off Spencer 22-20 on Friday night.

Mathis scored all three touchdowns on runs of one, two and five. He ended the night with 136 yards on 27 carries.

Whitmore had 133 yards on the ground on 16 attempts. Gabe Humphrey was 3-for-4 passing for 40 yards.

The Lynx (2-0 overall) held Spencer (0-2) to 140 yards on the ground. Tyler Olson had an interception and a fumble recovery.

No. 6 Titans use balanced attack

LAKE CITY — Sixth-ranked South Central Calhoun earned a 30-6 victory over Carroll Kuemper on Friday night.

The Titans (2-0 overall) had four different running backs reach the end zone.

Landon Schleisman ran for 75 yards on 12 carries with a three-yard touchdowns. Keagen Meyer had 64 yards and a 23-yard score.

Brennan Holder and Blake McAlister added touchdowns of 33 and 13 yards respectively.

Cole Corey was 7-for-11 passing for 91 yards for the Titans.

Golden Bears win on the road

MASON CITY — Bishop Garrigan jumped into the win column on Friday night, knocking off Mason City Newman 20-13.

Three different Golden Bears (1-1 overall) ran for touchdowns.

Senior Colby Graves and junior Derrick Kirsch both had five-yard touchdown runs.

Junior Kellen Murphy added a 35-yard touchdown run.

No. 1 Eagles down No. 9 Emmetsburg

EMMETSBURG — The Emmetsburg football was unable to pull the upset, falling here Friday night to top-ranked West Hancock, 41-13.

Ben Dunlap threw for 113 yards and two touchdowns for the ninth-ranked E-Hawks, as Gerard Ruiz had four catches for 51 yards.

Zach Foxhoven and Colby Weir each had a touchdown catch.

For the Eagles, Josef Smith ran for 168 yards and two scores, with Tate Hagen adding 124 and three touchdowns.

Manson NW falls to Panorama

MANSON — The Manson Northwest Webster football team suffered a 31-0 loss to Panorama here Friday night.

Kadin Birkey had a pair of interceptions for the Cougars (1-1 overall) on defense.

Tate Bianchi had six receptions on offense, as Austin Anliker completed 12 passes. Brayden Johll ran for 33 yards.
