Dodger volleyball squad tops Des Moines Lincoln

WEST DES MOINES — The Fort Dodge volleyball team finished up play at the West Des Moines Valley Tournament with a three-set win over Des Moines Lincoln here Saturday.

The Dodgers split the first two sets with the Railsplitters, but took over in the third and won, 15-4.

“It was really good to see the girls take command,” FDSH head coach Toni Cochrane said. “It was exciting to see how well they played there at the end.”

Kiana Touney had 11 kills, Raelle Wilder six and Brooke Hanson five for the Dodgers. Kathryn Cochrane recorded 25 assists, Emma Bloom had 16 digs, two aces and was perfect serving on the day.

Ciarra Love was 17-for-18 serving with four aces and Tory Bennett had 30 digs.

Fort Dodge also lost to West Des Moines Valley, Ankeny, Waukee and West Des Moines Dowling.

“We are really trying to challenge ourselves with these tournaments,” Cochrane said. “It’s difficult to play against competition like this; we can’t simulate it in practice.”
