The Fort Dodge baseball squad was an out away from splitting with rival Mason City on Monday, but the Mohawks countered a dramatic Dodger rally with one of their own in their final at-bat.

Fort Dodge fell on a night where it honored its three seniors by scores of 13-7 and 9-4.

Junior Mason Bockoven plated seniors Drake Miller and Drew Callon with the tying and go-ahead runs on a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth, as the Dodgers (10-23 overall) erased a 3-1 deficit to pull ahead 4-3 late in the nightcap.

Mason City (22-11) was down to its final out down 4-3 in the top of the seventh, before clean-up hitter Connor Dalen plated two runs with a clutch double.

The Mohawks would tack on four more insurance runs to complete the sweep.

In the opener, the Dodgers jumped ahead 7-3 before the Mohawks scored 10 unanswered runs, including five in the third.

Shane Halligan was 2-for-4 with three RBI, Bockoven and Nick Bice each drove in two, and Miller recorded two hits and scored twice.

Both Halligan and Bice hit homers in the contest in the bottom of the first, when FDSH trailed 3-0. Bockoven also had a double that plated two in the second, and ended up reaching base all four times.

Bockoven was 2-for-3 at the plate in the second contest, with Callon driving in a run and scoring twice.

Sophomore Dylan Zimmermann worked six solid innings, surrendering only three runs.

Between games, the Dodgers honored seniors Miller, Callon and Anthony Wagner.

Fort Dodge heads to Des Moines North Wednesday night.
