Mason selected to CYO all-tourney team
SIOUX CITY — The 12th-ranked (Class 1A) St. Edmond softball team went 1-2 here Saturday at the CYO.
The Gaels defeated Council Bluffs St. Albert, 12-0, around losses to Remsen St. Mary’s (10-0) and LeMars Gehlen (10-3).
“Regardless of who is pitching, we have to do a better job in the field,” SEHS head coach Nick Clark said. “We’ve also got to support the pitcher with more runs.
“But I saw a lot of positives and I know we’ll continue to build on those.”
Jacque Oberg drove in a pair of runs in the win over St. Albert and Ella Vratny had two hits. Vratny also earned the win in the circle.
“We had more of a pep in our step with Ella out there and our lineup at full strength,” Clark said. “But both Jacque and Macey did a great job stepping in and pitching for us.”
Mason was selected to the CYO all-tournament team.
The Gaels return to action Monday at Algona.
