Lakeside, FDCC partnership in its 28th year

The Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota Webster County golf tournament will be a 36-hole qualifier again this year in the men’s open and senior brackets, with a championship nine taking place on Sunday evening at the Fort Dodge Country Club.

This competition has followed the same format since The Messenger obtained sponsorship in 1980: two full days of golf on Saturday and Sunday, followed by a cut and a final round of action at dusk for the best of the best. For the first 10 years, though, Lakeside was the only course used.

In 1991, the FDCC made this an event with multiple locations. The Sunday evening championship nine always follows action on the course used for the second day of the competition.

The senior bracket was introduced in 1997 on the men’s side and 2005 for the women.

On-line registration for the July 13 and 14 tournament, sponsored by The Messenger, is set up for all tournament participants this year at https://fdcc-2019citytournament1.golfgenius.com. Click on the “Register Now For 2019 City Tournament” tab on the bottom left-hand side of the page.

The men’s open and senior division fields are asked to visit Lakeside (515-576-6741) with questions, concerns or if help is needed signing up. The women should go to the Country Club (515-955-8551).

Nearly 8,000 golfers have participated over the last 39 years.
