Hoefing, Yetmar claim Middleton title on day one

MANSON — Brad Hoefing and Justin Yetmar claimed top honors on day one of the Joe Middleton Classic.

The event took place at the Manson Golf and Country Club.

Hoefing and Yetmar were both former students of Joe Middleton, who the tournament is named after. Hoefing currently lives in Manson and Yetmar in Carroll.

The duo won the title in a sudden death playoff over Elias Johnson and Justin Kean. Both pairs shot a round of 10-under 62.

Austin Johnson and Ryan Wierda were seven-under (65). Justin Jensen and Austin Wolfe (65) and Sean Hood and Brandt Rost (65) also had the second lowest scores.

All five teams advance to the championship-nine to be played Sunday after another round of action that will feature 10 former event champions.

Tee time is set for 10 a.m.
