Davidson tosses no-hitter for PAC

POCAHONTAS — It was about as perfect of a night for Jace Davidson at the diamond as he could have asked for.

Davidson, a senior for Pocahontas Area, tossed a no-hitter as the Indians remained unbeaten in Twin Lakes Conference play with a 17-1 victory in four innings over Newell-Fonda here Friday.

“All I can say is it feels amazing,” Davidson said. “I’m just happy that our team is playing great ball. The best part is that we know we haven’t hit our stride yet.

“Right now, we’re just enjoying the game and having fun playing with one another.”

Along with eight strikeouts against 12 batters he faced, Davidson was a 4-for-4 at the plate with a homer, two doubles and six runs driven in.

His blast in the fourth provided the final runs to end the contest early.

For Davidson, who is headed to Morningside College in the fall to play basketball, the no-hitter was the fourth of his high school career. Pocahontas Area is now 8-2 overall, 5-0 in the conference and on a six-game win streak.

On the season, Davidson is 3-1 with 40 strikeouts in just over 19 innings pitched. He has walked just four batters and has two homers with 17 RBI.

Trey Oehlertz was 3-for-4, scoring three runs with two RBI and a double, Christian Davidson added two hits, scored three times, stole three bases and drove in a run, and Thomas Melohn had a homer with three runs driven in.

Ryan Anderson had a run and an RBI, Gavin Ehn had a double and a run, and Chase Cook had three runs on a double and two walks.

The Indians return to action Monday when they face Southeast Valley in Dayton.
