Kinney 11th at regionals for Gaels

BRITT — The season came to a close for the St. Edmond girls golf team here Monday, as they finished eighth in a Class 1A regional final.

The meet was won by Bishop Garrigan with a 366, as the Gaels fired a 466 team score. Alta/Aurelia also advanced to state.

Rylee Kinney was the low golfer for St. Edmond, as she just missed out on an individual spot with a 98. Kinney placed 11th overall after shooting a 47 on the front nine and a 51 on the back.

Amanda Richman added a 109 followed by Chloe Lewison (124), Hannah Zinnel (135), Clare Condon (137) and Cameron Brown (145).

“Although it is disappointing we didn’t make it to state, I’m proud of how the girls played this year,” SEHS head coach Kelsey Felch said. “They worked hard and if they keep working hard, we have a chance next year.”

Richman finished 30th overall and Lewison in 42nd.

The 1A state meet is May 28-29 in Marshalltown at the American Legion Golf Course.
