Gael track teams combine for 12 state events

DES MOINES – The St. Edmond boys will be competing in eight events, adding four more on time qualifications.

The distance medley team of Cael Kolacia, Nick Bennett, Jackson Bemrich and Andrew Gibb reached state with the 19th best time in 3:47.47.

The 4×200 quartet of Kolacia, Bennett, Sean Flattery and Sean Newell ran a 1:34.58, putting them 22nd.

Shelly, who ran the fifth fastest time 1A at 51.05 will run in the 400-meter dash.

Gibb’s 2:07.07 in the 800 lands him in 20th.

The Gaels have the second best time in the 4×100 with Shelly, Flattery, Newell and Baker at 44.67.

The 4×400 team of Gibb, Newell, Flattery and Shelly (3:31.96) are fifth best as is the sprint medley of Newell, Baker, Flattery and Shelly (1:36.79).

Baker is 10th in the 200 (23.40).

Abby Landwehr is 14th in the 3000 (11:31.48) and 22nd in the 1500 (4:21.04).

The 4×800 team of Caroline Shelly, Emma Alstott, Landwehr and Aubrey Bemrich (10:19.24) are sixth and the distance medley squad of Shelly, Gracie Harvey, Avery Galles and Bemrich are 11th (4:30.83).
