CEDAR FALLS — Overcoming injuries is nothing new for Cal Twait.
The former Manson Northwest Webster all-stater and University of Northern Iowa starter has been mending from multiple surgeries that took place after his senior season with the Panthers concluded.
Twait, a 6-foot-5, 305-pound offensive lineman, was unable to attend any pro day events ahead of the recent NFL Draft, but that didn’t stop teams from showing interest.
“I am recovering very well from the surgeries,” Twait said. “After not being able to do a pro day, teams still showed interest and I received a mini-camp invite.”
The recovery process, though, will keep Twait from accepting the offer.
“I am still about a month out from a full recovery,” he said. “My plan is to continue to train and rehab, and wait for another opportunity to come when I am fully healthy.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported me and I can’t wait for the next opportunity to chase my dreams!”
Twait was a four-year starter for Northern Iowa, earning all-Missouri Valley Football Conference honors. He was a three-year letterwinner for the Cougars, earning all-state honors along the way.
He earned third team All-American status from FCS Stats following this past season.
