Cougars bring title home from SV Invite

GOWRIE — The Southeast Valley track team took advantage of ideal conditions to host a boys meet here Monday night.

Manson Northwest Webster captured the Class B team crown over West Bend-Mallard. In Class A, Roland-Story scored the team title over Webster City, with the host Jaguars placing seventh overall.

Brian Pearson was a double winner for the Cougars, claiming gold in both the 400 and 110 hurdles.

MNW first place finishes came from Tommy Lawman in the discus, Dayton Snell in the long jump, Brodie Anderson in the high jump, Cael Oswald in the 3200, Carson Collins in the 800, Cael Collins in the 400 hurdles, the sprint medley and the 4×200 relay.

For West Bend-Mallard, Hunter Jergens won the 100 and the Wolverines also picked up gold in the 4×400 and 4×800 relays.

Southeast Valley’s Memphis Simpson won the B shot put.

Southeast Valley had three runner-up finishes from Mason Ackerson in the discus, Kyler Fisher in the 100 and the shuttle hurdle relay.

Webster City’s Max Harfst won the 800 in 2:02.09 and Garrett Whitmore the 400 hurdles in 57.45. The Lynx also captured the distance medley relay and had seconds from JJ Moore (shot put), Kaiyu Levongkhom (110 hurdles), Lincoln LaSourd (200), the sprint medley and the 4×100 relay.

For Pocahontas Area, which finished fourth overall, Cade Henrickson won the 400 in 52.85 and the Indians claimed the 4×400 relay. Henrickson was also the long jump runner-up, with Cooper Christians placing second in the high jump.

The 4×800 relay for Pocahontas Area also secured silver.
