Dodgers, Gaels among those at Buena Vista Elite

STORM LAKE — The Fort Dodge and St. Edmond boys track teams got their seasons underway here Friday night at the Buena Vista Elite meet.

The Dodger 4×200 relay scored a third place finish with a time of 1:37.34, with Trey Kasperbauer and Thomas Daniel each adding fourth place medals.

For the Gaels, Andrew Gibb placed fourth in the 400.

Kasperbauer clocked a time of 8.97 in the 60 hurdles, while Daniel went 24.77 in the 200. Fort Dodge’s shuttle hurdle relay came in fifth overall in 37.90.

Gibb posted a time of 55.34 to secure fourth in his event, with Sean Newell placing sixth in the 200 in 24.84.

Cael Kolacia was ninth in the 400 in 57.39 and the St. Edmond sprint medley placed ninth in 4:07.46.

South Central Calhoun’s Chase McAlister claimed the 800 title, clocking a time of 2:06.59 to capture the event.

The Titans also had three of the Top-10 finishes in the 60 hurdles, led by Josh Van Hulzen’s fifth in 8.98. Mason Merkley was seventh (9.06) and Keagan Meyer ninth (9.15). The sprint medley relay finished runners-up in 3:48.42 and the shuttle hurdle relay was fourth in 37.51.

Southeast Valley’s Kyler Fisher, Chase Swieter and Kaleb Scott all earned ninth place medals. Fisher scored his in the 60 (7.55), with Swieter and Scott tying in the high jump (5-6).

Clarion-Goldfield/Dows’ Ryan Watne was fifth in the shot put (45-0) and teammate Nate Rapp placed ninth (43-2). The shuttle hurdle relay was 10th for the Cowboys in 39.13.

Shivers gold for PAC

STORM LAKE — Kaylee Shivers from Pocahontas Area won the high jump here Friday night at the Buena Vista Elite, clearing 5-foot-2.

Jessica Sump was fifth for the Indians in the 60 hurdles in 10.32, adding a seventh in the long jump (14-8). The 4×200 for Pocahontas Area finished eighth in 1:57.24.

Manson Northwest Webster’s Madalyn Moline and Bailey Kenyon each picked up fourth place finishes. Moline was fourth in the 1500 in 5:28.09, while Kenyon claimed fourth in the 400 in 1:06.21.

Moline set a new personal record with her time and Kenyon a season-best. Lexi Wood was 10th overall for the Cougars in the shot put (31-5.5).

Kaylynn Ridgely had a pair of third place finishes for South Central Calhoun, earning bronze in both the high jump (5-0) and long jump (15-4.5). She set a new personal record on the high jump.

Keagan King was seventh in the 60 hurdles (10.40) for the Titans, with Jade Ridgely adding a seventh in the 400 (1:07.05).

East Sac County’s girls 4×800 relay was 10th in 11:47.11.
