Beschorner hired by UW-EC
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — Wesley Beschorner has found his new coaching home.
Beschorner, a former all-state quarterback at Southern Cal (now South Central Calhoun), was hired to be the new head coach for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire football team recently.
“My family and I are thrilled to be here and join the Blugold family,” Beschorner said. “We are excited to compete for championships, recruit and develop student-athletes and help them graduate with a world-class degree. I want to thank Chancellor Schmidt, Dan Schumacher and the search committee for the first-class hiring process and helping our family feel at home.”
Beschorner was the quarterbacks coach for the University of Maryland this past fall following stops at the University of Pittsburgh and Rice University. At Pittsburgh, he was the offensive quality control assistant, and he served as quarterbacks coach at Rice.
“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Beschorner to our staff and his family to the community,” said Schumacher. “His experience as a player and a coach at the Division II and Division I level will lend itself well … as we continue to build on the program’s recent success.”
After his standout career in high school, the Lohrville native continued to find success directing the offense for the University of South Dakota. Beschorner was a finalist for the Harlon Hill award, given to the NCAA Div. II most valuable player.
He earned All-American honors and led Div. II in passing efficiency, while finishing his playing career with 33 program records.
Beschorner has been inducted into the Iowa High School Hall of Fame and the University of South Dakota Hall of Fame. He also coached at USD.
Beschorner becomes the 17th coach in school history, as he’ll look to lead the team to the NCAA Div. III playoffs. UWEC went 4-6 a year ago and 2-5 in the WIAC.
He is married to Kiki and the two have three sons, Burke, Rhett and Troy.
