DES MOINES — After nearly upsetting Lisbon in the quarterfinals, Emmetsburg settled for sixth place honors here Wednesday in Class 1A.
The E-Hawks dropped their first dual, 35-33, to the third-seed Lions, rebounding with a 33-32 victory over Logan-Magnolia to advance to the fifth place match.
Emmetsburg was bested by Lake Mills, 42-25.
“Had a great dual experience with the team,” E-Hawk head coach Tyler Bjustrom said. “Now, reload and try to come home with some individual hardware.”
Brad Wirtz, Spencer Griffin, Bret Hoyman, Mason Griffin, Nick Schany and Jon Lace II all had wins for Emmetsburg vs. Lisbon.
Ethan Berven, Wirtz, Spencer Griffin, Hoyman, Mason Griffin, Schany and Lace added victories vs. Logan-Magnolia, with Spencer Griffin, Hoyman, Schany, Evan Brennan, Nic Lowe and Levi Aldous earning wins vs. Lake Mills.
Brennan, Berven, Spencer Griffin, Mason Griffin and Calvin Hart will all be in action at the traditional state meet beginning here Thursday for the E-Hawks.
