Fisher knocks off No. 1 Pauley

GUTHRIE CENTER — The Clarion-Goldfield wrestling team won the Charger Invitational here Saturday, besting Van Meter and Underwood.

Southeast Valley was fifth overall and Manson Northwest Webster placed 11th.

Reed Abbas, Sam Wigans and Spencer Trenary all claimed individual titles for the Cowboys, with Tyler Stein and Remington Hanson finishing second. Garrett Seaba was third.

Kyler Fisher moved to 182 pounds and remained unbeaten, scoring a 3-2 victory in the ultimate tiebreaker over Gabe Pauley of AHSTW.

With his victory, Fisher was named Outstanding Wrestler of the meet.

Fisher, ranked second at 195 pounds, is now 22-0 on the year for the Jaguars.

Pauley, who suffered his second loss in 32 matches, is ranked No. 1 in Class 1A at 182.

Clayton McFarland was second for the Jaguars, falling in the finals to defending state champion Cody Fisher of Woodward-Granger.

Coledon Bethel was third and Xavier Nichols were each third for Southeast Valley.

For the Cougars, Daltin Roest reached the finals, finishing second after falling to Underwood’s Zane Ziegler.

Chris Krueger, Brodie Anderson and Carson Peterson all finished fourth.
