FD girls fall to No. 3 Dragons
JOHNSTON — The third-ranked (Class 5A) Johnston girls had no trouble with Fort Dodge here Thursday night, posting a 70-15 victory.
Nicole Guerin led the Dodgers (0-14 overall) with five points, while Tory Bennett added four and Tristin Doster three.
For the Dragons (14-1), Maya McDermott had 15, with both Kendall Nead and Regan Nesheim scoring 12 each.
“That is a very good team with a lot of talented juniors and seniors,” FDSH head coach Scott Messerly said.
After the first quarter, Fort Dodge was down just 16-6, but Johnston outscored them 22-2 in the second and went up 56-10 after three quarters of play.
“We got a lot of good minutes out of seniors Ebonee Altman and Juliet Thompson,” Messerly said. “They both worked very hard on defense and I thought Nicole had a nice game, as well.”
The Dragons have won four in a row since suffering their lone loss of the year.
Next action for FDSH will be Friday night when they host Southeast Polk.
