Duckett wins twice for Gaels

WEBSTER CITY — Humboldt earned two North Central Conference victories on Thursday, sweeping a triangular hosted by the Lynx.

The Wildcats beat Webster City 53-30 and St. Edmond 78-6. The Lynx defeated St. Edmond 78-4.

Winning matches against the Lynx were Cole Nelson (113), Cresten Craven (126), Timmy Larson (145), Tyler Vitzthum (152), Joey Busse (160), Levi Naeve (170), Joel Osborn (182), Colton Goodell (220 and Justin Jones (285).

Nelson, Larson, Vitzthum, Busse, Naeve, Osborn, Goodell and Jones all had bonus point wins.

Winning for the Lynx were Camron Phetxoumphone (106), Drake Doolittle (120), Chase Rattenborg (132), Nick Gasca (138) and Caleb Olson (195). All five Lynx wins were by fall.

In the dual against the Gaels, Cole Nelson (106), Jordan Jensen (132), Busse, and Naeve all won by fall.

Picking up wins against the Gaels for the Lynx were Phetxoumphone, Rattenborg, Sean Godfredsen (160) and Isaac Bernard (170). All four were by fall.

St. Edmond’s Ryan Duckett (113) picked up two victories for the Gaels. Duckett earned a major decision over Webster City’s Reece Sadler (11-2).

Duckett picked up a fall over Humboldt’s Gage Prenger in 1:45.

“Duckett had two matches and looked good,” said St. Edmond head coach Eugene Carlson. “He controlled himself and got a takedown early to establish control.

“Humboldt and Webster City are good teams and have a lot of mat time.”

The Gaels are off until next Saturday (Jan. 19) for the North Central Conference Meet in Clarion.
