Dodgers win four events at Mason City

MASON CITY– The Fort Dodge boys swim team won four events against Mason City on Thursday.

The Mohawks won the meet 61-33.

Senior Cole Pearson was a double winner, capturing gold in the 50 freestyle (22.69) and the 100 freestyle (50.84).

Ben Lennon won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:13.63.

“It’s been a week since we swam, but the kids have been doing really well in practice,” FDSH head coach Ashley Beaumont said. “They have been working hard and we are trying to focus on what each one wants to swim for the postseason.”

Lennon, Coert Groff, Kyzer Stanley and Pearson went 3:49 to capture the 400 freestyle relay, with the same quartet earning second in the 200 free in 1:39.52.

Lennon was second in the 200 IM (2:21.65) and Groff was runner up in the 200 freestyle (2:01.19).

“I’m very happy with where we are at right now in terms of times,” Beaumont said. “I’m ecstatic to get into winter break and put those extra yards in.”

The Dodgers are back in action next Thursday when they host Ankeny.
