A dozen area players from the Twin Lakes Conference were recently honored for their efforts on the baseball field with first team all-league status.

Pocahontas Area’s Jace Davidson, Shea Ruffridge and Chase Boeve; South Central Calhoun’s Kyler Steinborn and Zane Neubaum; Newell-Fonda’s Taylor Hereid, Nate Pedersen and Jesse Haack; Emmetsburg’s Nick Schany; East Sac County’s Levi Olhausen; and West Bend-Mallard’s Danie Riesenberg were all tabbed.

Others named to the first team included Alex Snyder and Logan McCoy of Alta/Aurelia, and Sioux Central’s Chase Jessen.

Davidson went 4-1 on the mound, striking out 48 batters and walking just seven in 32-plus innings. Steinborn, who has signed with Cornell College, was 4-1 with 61 strikeouts. Both had earned run averages under one in league play.

Davidson did not commit an error in 41 chances in the field for the Indians.

Boeve had 12 steals in 11 games, hitting .444 with 16 RBI and 10 runs scored. Davidson, Boeve and Ruffridge all had just one strikeout each in 114 at-bats.

Pedersen hit .500 with 16 RBI and a .775 slugging percentage in conference games, with Hereid batting .432 with 14 runs driven in. Haack was walked 12 times, putting together a .523 on-base percentage.

For leading Alta/Aurelia to an 11-0 record and the league title, Ryan Burkhart was named coach of the year. Pocahontas Area finished second, South Central Calhoun third and Newell-Fonda fourth.
