Gibbs’ 32 not enough for St. Edmond

CLARION — The Clarion-Goldfield/Dows boys used a second half rally to secure a sweep over St. Edmond here Tuesday night, 78-75.

In the final seconds, the Gaels had three attempts to tie the contest, but shots by Andrew Gibb and Jackson Kochendorfer missed.

Gibb scored 32 points to lead the way.

St. Edmond (7-6 overall, 5-3 in North Central Conference) led after the first quarter, 25-18, but Clarion-Goldfield/Dows (7-6, 4-4) cut the deficit to 37-35 heading into halftime. The Cowboys went up 57-55 after three quarters of play.

Last month, Clarion-Goldfield/Dows claimed a 51-38 victory, as three players scored in double figures. The Cowboys have won five of their last six overall.

Clarion-Goldfield/Dows travels to Clear Lake on Friday, with St. Edmond hosting Humboldt as they try to snap a three-game losing streak.
