Tritons close out fall season

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — Iowa Central’s sports shooting team just finished out a strong fall season with a pair of third-place individuals in the regional championships.

Alexis Louck finished third in female sporting clays with an 86 out of 100, Lane Dundee finished third in super sporting clays with a 47 of 50.

Grand Island had 250 competitors, making it the biggest regional championship the ACUI has ever hosted.

The team has been even more successful this fall in their conference, taking first place at every event. They won in Ellsworth with the Top-5 shooters being Lane Dundee, Ty Haugen, Taylor Nelson, Konnor Wendt and Clinton Manning shooting a 492-for-500.

The top male for this meet was Dundee with a score of 99 out of 100 and Nelson took second with a 99 of 100. Iowa Central also took top female for this event with Tayler Andersen, who shot a 95-for-100.

The team also placed first at Indian Hills with the Top-5 being Dundee, Kyle Coomer, Isaiah Miller, Manning and Dylan Schepers shooting a 485 of 500.

After Indian Hills, the team set their eyes on Southwestern, placing first as a team with Manning, Schepers, Kaden Waack, Wendt and Nelson shooting a 485 of 500. Manning also took second with a score of 98 of 100, winning the shoot off against Schepers, who shot the same score.

Amanda Gunderson was second for females with a 92 of 100 and Taylor Sandy finished third.

Cedar Rapids also awarded Iowa Central first place with the top five shooters being Manning, Dundee, Kyle Coomer, Gunderson, and Andersen shooting a 490 of 500. Manning also took first individual for males with a perfect score of 100-for-100.

Gunderson took first place individual for females with a 98-for-100 and Andersen was second.

Ellsworth hosted the last conference meet of the fall season, where Iowa Central also was first with 474 of 500. The top five were Manning, Wendt, JP Crowley, John Behrens and Dundee.

Manning also took third and Mollie Upton was third for females.

The team returns to action this spring for the ACUI Nationals in San Antonio.
