Fort Dodge loses in five games

JOHNSTON — The Fort Dodge volleyball team battled back here Tuesday night, forcing a fifth and deciding set with Johnston.

In the end, the Dragons came out on top.

Scores were 25-14, 25-10, 21-25, 24-26 and 15-11.

“We made some adjustments and the kids responded,” FDSH head coach Tonia Burrell said. “Kaden Pederson played an amazing match, as did Brooke Erickson.

“Josie Shirbroun was all over the place, digging balls left and right.”

Kacee Gollob led the Dodgers with 14 kills and four blocks, with Beth Murman adding seven blocks.

Shirbroun was 22 of 24 serving with three aces and 15 assists, Dereka Burton added four kills and three blocks, and Ebonee Altman had five kills.

“This was a good momentum-builder for us heading into the weekend and the postseason,” Burrell said.

Fort Dodge returns to the court Saturday at the Woodward-Granger Invitational.
