IOWA CITY — Fort Dodge senior Drew Bennett will take to the mat Friday night during the “Night of Conflict 3” inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Bennett won the fan voting to become the final wrestler from Iowa to be added to the lineup. He’ll compete in this event for a second time, taking on Malik Johnson of Missouri.

Last year, Bennett fell to Ohio’s Dylan D’Emilio in overtime, 4-2. He has finished third each of the last two years at the state wrestling meet.

In the spring, Bennett captured a freestyle state title and earned a medal in both freestyle and Greco-Roman at the Northern Plains Regional.

Johnson, ranked 10th in the nation, competes for Christian Brothers in Missouri. He is a three-time sstate champion and won the Cadet World Team Trials in Greco-Roman in 2016 and was a Preseason Folkstyle Nationals winner.

Johnson has committed to wrestle at the University of Missouri.

Night of Conflict pits high school wrestlers from Iowa against the best of the nation and takes place a day before Conflict at Carver.

All proceeds from the event go to the Hawkeye Wrestling Club. Doors open at 6 p.m. and action starts at 7 p.m. Cost is $10 for general admission and $25 for floor seats.

IAWrestle.com organizes and puts on the event.
