Webster City runs past ’Cats

HUMBOLDT — Humboldt took an early lead on Webster City, but the Lynx came back with 28 unanswered to earn a 28-7 victory on Friday night.

Humboldt (0-1 overall) scored the first touchdown on Jamison Heinz 25-yard strike to Lucas Volf.

Webster City (1-0) scored 21 points in the second quarter to take a 21-7 halftime lead.

Dylan Steen kicked off the scoring with a 45-yard scamper to paydirt.

It was all Zane Williams in the end zone following that. Williams scored from one, two and 39 yards out.

The Lynx won the battle of offense, racking up 342 yards of total offense to 107 for the Wildcats. Webster City had 15 first downs to three for Humboldt.

Steen led the Lynx on the ground with 120 on 16 carries. Williams had 95 on 16 totes. Webster City finished with 290 rushing yards.

Trayton Harris led Humboldt with 35 rushing yards.

Heinz was 4-for-8 for 62 yards.
