Wildcats second at Lynx Relays

WEBSTER CITY — The Humboldt boys track team finished as runners-up to Iowa Falls-Alden here Tuesday at the Lynx Relays.

Webster City was third, Pocahontas Area finished fifth, Eagle Grove sixth and St. Edmond was seventh.

For the Lynx, Payton Kannuan won the long jump (20-10.5), James Cherry claimed the shot put (46-11.75) and Garrett Whitmore the 400 hurdles (58.88).

Webster City also had runner-up performances out of Jordan Tanner (long jump, 110 hurdles), Cherry (discus), the shuttle hurdle and the 4×100 relays.

Joseph Kunert was the winner in the 3200 (10:48.22), Colton Monson the 110 hurdles (15.54) and Ryan Courtney the 1600 (4:49.22) for the Wildcats, who also won the 4×800 (8:30.03), shuttle hurdle relay (1:01.45) and distance medley (3:51.49).

Adding seconds for Humboldt were Matt Miller (400) and Denny Pederson (200), along with the 4×400 relay.

Andrew Klaassen had a second in the 100 for the Indians.

For the Gaels, Jake Heidenreich was fourth in the 110 hurdles and Charlie Shelly was fourth in the 200.

Jonah Hindt captured the junior varsity 200 and St. Edmond also won the sprint medley.
