Two wins for Gaels at South Hamilton

JEWELL — The St. Edmond boys track team scored two firsts and finished fourth overall here Thursday.

Both the 4×200 and shuttle hurdle relays won, while Jake Heidenreich earned two individual seconds.

The 4×200 relay consisted of Jackson Bemrich, Nick Bennett, Sean Newell and Charlie Shelly. They had a time of 1:38.6. Bemrich, Sam Dougall, Kameron Brown and Heidenreich went 1:06.76 to win the shuttle hurdle relay.

“It was good to come away with a couple of first place finishes and medals,” SEHS head coach Bill Kibby said. “The conditions were not great, so the times suffered, but the kids ran well.”

Heidenreich was the runner-up in both the 110 (16.15) and 400 (1:03.50) hurdle events.

The sprint medley of Cade Naughton, Bennett, Newell and Shelly also finished third, as did the distance medley of Bemrich, Newell, Brown and Jed Tracy.

Nick Simpson was also third in the high jump.

St. Edmond runs next on Tuesday in Manson.
