HUMBOLDT — Faith Meyer sprinted to the finish line ahead of everyone three different times and Kenzie Sullivan tossed her way to the top here on Monday night, helping Pocahontas Area grab the team title at the Wildcat Relays on Monday night.

The Indians (164) claimed the team title, while Algona (140) finished second. Humboldt (127) was third, followed by St. Edmond (41) and Webster City (36).

Pocahontas Area had 10 first-place finishes, while Algona turned in five and Humboldt took four golds.

Meyer won both hurdle events, crossing the tape in 16.59 in the 100 and finished in 1:09.43 in the 400.

She also won the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:00.95.

Elle Ruffridge grabbed gold in the 800, winning in 2:33.19.

The quartet of Ashlyn Weidauer, Olivia Ahlers, Ruffridge and Grace Meyer were first in the sprint medley (1:59.13).

The same foursome also won the distance medley in a time of 4:36.99.

The Indians grabbed four firsts in field events. Sullivan led the way, winning the shot put (39-04) and the discus (128-11).

Kaylee Shivers was the high jump champion (5-0) and Jessica Stumpf was the long jump winner (16-01.75).

Algona’s Amanda Hentges was champion in the 100-meter dash (13.44) and Abigail Holmes earned gold in the 200-meter dash (27.78).

The quartet of Sam Hood, Janna Julius, Abby Groen and Hentges won the 4×100 in 51.46.

Hood, Groen, Hentges and Hoover captured the 4×200 in a time of 1:51.34.

The shuttle hurdle relay gave the Bulldogs three relay firsts, as Emma Hjelle, Holmes, Teylor Rindone and Julius won in 1:09.40.

Humboldt’s Bryce Gidel claimed golds in two distance events, winning the 1500 (5:08.90), nearly eight seconds faster then second place and the 3000 (11:07.12), nearly six faster.

The quartet of Olivia Hildreth, Beth Duffield, Kate Curran and Gabby Kent, won the 4×400 in 4:15.55, 13 seconds faster than the Indians.

Hildreth, Lauren Erickson, Curran and Gidel were champions in the 4×800 (10:40.30).

Erin Flattery was the top finisher for St. Edmond, ending up in second in the long jump (15-10.5).

Abby Landwehr had two third place showings, in the 1500 (5:23.52) and the 3000 (11:57.08).

Megan Flattery finished third in the 800 (2:39.43).

Devyn Scott was fourth in the high jump (4-08).

“I was happy with our team scoring up against the bigger schools,” said St. Edmond head coach Liz Flattery. “It’s good competing against some of the top runners to help push our girls until districts. Our times could have been better in a few of our relays, but the girls ran well for the most part.

“I’m excited to get our girls in some events we will run at Hampton Friday, so we can see where we really do place with the time slots.”
