ALGONA – Johanna Vaske scored 30 points to lead the Bishop Garrigan girls to a 59-39 victory over North Iowa in Class 1A regional action Thursday night.
For the Golden Bears, Betty Straub added eight points.
Vaske made 11 field goals and was 11-for-12 at the line.
E-Hawks knock off Manson NW
MANSON – The Emmetsburg girls knocked off No. 8 (Class 2A) Manson Northwest Webster by a 42-38 count Thursday night.
Ashton Connelly paced the E-Hawks (13-8 overall) with 14 points, followed by Kayla Joyce with 11.
For the Cougars (16-5), Brenna Peters (12) and Cloie Herzberg (11) each scored in double figures.
In Tuesday’s 51-34 setback at second-ranked (3A) Pocahontas Area/Laurens-Marathon, junior Faith Troshynski scored her 1,000th career point for MNW. She also now holds the school record for career three-pointers made (139).

No. 2 Indians clinch share of TLC title
LAURENS – The second-ranked (Class 3A) Pocahontas Area/Laurens-Marathon girls clinched a share of the Twin Lakes Conference title Friday night, rolling to an 85-31 triumph over West Bend-Mallard.
Elle Ruffridge tallied 22 points and 11 assists for the Indians (19-1 overall, 9-1 in the TLC), who prevailed for an 11th straight game.
Grace Meyer (17) and twin sister Faith Meyer (15) also scored in double figures for Pocahontas Area/Laurens-Marathon, which erupted for 68 points in the first half alone. As a team, the Indians finished 17-for-33 behind the arc.
“This was our first conference championship in 14 years,” said PA/L-M head coach Robert Maske. “I’m just really proud of our whole team.”
For the Wolverines (0-16), Lauren Link and Taylor Fogarty each scored 10.

Haley Birks paced the Titans (17-2 overall) with 21 points.
Kori Assman (18), Tyffaney Toms (15) and Hannah Corey (12) all scored in double figures as well for South Central Calhoun.
Brenna Peters led the way for the Cougars (16-3) with 22 points, while Faith Troshynski added 21. MNW saw its 14-game winning streak snapped.
