Gilbert ends Lynx 13-game win streak

GILBERT – Gilbert returned an interception just before half to turn the momentum as the Tigers turned back No. 8 Webster City, 31-25 on Friday night.

The Lynx (2-1 overall, 0-1 district) had a 22-7 lead before Gilbert roared back.

Robert Fredericksen had another monster game for the Lynx, rushing for 268 yards on 26 yards and two touchdowns. He scored on runs of 45 and 84 yards.

Payton Kannuan also had a long touchdown run for the Lynx.

Webster City picked up a safety and Drew Fielder kicked a 32-yard field goal.

The loss was Webster City’s first regular season defeat since Oct. 14, 2014. It also snapped a streak of 13 straight wins.

Gilbert’s Steven Lawrence had 288 yards of total offense. He threw for 165 and rushed for 123 yards.

The Tigers accumulated 430 yards of offense (265 rushing, 165 passing) and Webster City had 419 yards, all rushing.
