ADM easily handles Burlington

Iowa State commit Lauren Hagedorn has been in many pressure situations on the diamond.
In Monday's Class 4A opening round for top-ranked ADM (34-4 overall), the ace -- who boasts a 0.95 earned run average -- gave up one run in the first inning.
That was it, though.
Hagedorn shut the door on eighth-seeded Burlington (26-7) in a 10-1 state victory. The Tigers will now face Western Dubuque (33-8) on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. on Channel Seeds Field.
This is the Tigers' sixth consecutive state tournament appearance.
Burlington loaded the bases in the first inning, but was only able to put one run across.
"We've been here multiple of times so I know with the defense behind me we can trust each other," Hagedorn said.
Hagedorn (17-4) shut the door the rest of the way, allowing only five hits while striking out four.
"It's huge to win the first one, because you have to win that to get to the last one," Hagedorn said. "It's great to get run support -- especially early."
The big hit for ADM came from Kinzee Maxwell, who was 2-for-2 with a three-run homer. She drove in four runs on the day.
Hagedorn also did damage at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four runs scored.
Aubrey Noring and Ellis Smith drove in runs.
Kylee Hill had the lone RBI for Burlington, plating Ava Brandenburg.
The Tigers made the Grayhounds pay for mistakes for the field, as they scored only four earned runs after six Burlington errors.
The Grayhounds will now face Winterset (24-14) on Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. on Channel Seeds Field.
