Maura Chalupa silenced the bats of West Des Moines Valley and Muscatine earned a bronze medal finish in Class 5A.

The Muskies (37-5) knocked off the Tigers (27-15), 6-2 on Thursday afternoon.

Chalupa (21-3) only allowed five hits and struck out 10 batters.

Muscatine had 13 hits. Karly Ricketts led the way with three hits.

Kyleia Salyars, Brylee Seaman, Kaitlyn Haag and Bree Seaman had two each.

Salyars and Lucy Hoag drove in two runs each while Brylee Seaman and Bree Seaman had one each.

Gianna Lara had a home run for the Tigers and Katie Shaner drove in a run.
