Jaguars 3rd in state debut

After suffering a loss to top-ranked Fort Dodge in the Class 5A state semifinals, fifth-seed Ankeny Centennial bounced back to finish third.

The Jaguars (23-9 overall), who were making their first state trip in school history, defeated Muscatine (19-4) by a final of 10-0 in five innings on Thursday.

Madi Huisman earned the victory, allowing three hits. She walked three and struck out one.

Lizzy Klunder and Kennedee Jones hit home runs for the Jaguars. Klunder finished with three RBI, while Jones had two hits and two driven in.

Franie Burnett, Sydney Morris, Anna Christiansen and Mackenzie James had two hits each.
