Clarksville reaches 1A finals with shutout

With all nine starters back from a year ago, Clarksville was able to punch their state finals ticket with a 4-0 victory over Lisbon in a Class 1A semifinal on Wednesday at Rogers Park.

The Indians (18-1 overall) didn’t score until the fourth inning, but pitcher Kori Wedeking tossed a five-hitter with five strikeouts to propel Clarksville.

Wedeking also did damage at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Wedeking also had a double.

Ainsley Lovrien drove in two runs for the Indians.

Recording hits for Lisbon were Peyton Robinson, Ryleigh Allgood, Stacia Hall, Kali Nelsn and Samantha Bennett.

Clarksville will now face two-time defending champion Collins-Maxwell in the 1A state title game. First pitch will be at 7:30 p.m. on Krugers Seed Field (Diamond 1).

Lisbon will face Lynnville-Sully at 6 p.m. in the third place game on Iowa Central Field (Diamond 2).
