It was an efficient and quick night for Albia, as the Lady Dees topped Creston in a Class 3A quarterfinal here Monday night, 12-0 in four innings.

Alex Beard, Jena Lawrence, Lauren Bayer, Danica Workman and Ellie Spurgin all drove in two runs each for Albia (20-1 overall), who advances to face Mount Vernon Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. on Dodger Diamond in the semifinals.

Lawrence earned the win, striking out 10 in four innings with just two hits allowed. She is a five-year starter who has appeared at four consecutive state tournaments alongside classmate Beard.

Abbey Griffin, Lawrence and Workman collected three hits each, with Beard, Bayer and Spurgin two.

For Creston, Sara Keeler and Peyton Rice each had a base hit.
