Hospice Ball is coming up

”Unseen, unheard but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.” – Unknown Author

We are honored and excited to invite you to virtually participate in the 29th annual Hospice Ball on Feb. 6. For the safety of everyone and in compliance with CDC social distancing guidelines, all activities connected to this year’s event will be virtual. We may not be together in person, yet every effort has been made to make this evening memorable and fun.

The Trinity Hospice Ball is a fundraiser for UnityPoint Hospice which provides local hospice services. This event recognizes the support, love, compassion and excellence the hospice team provides, and most importantly, the people. The ones we have lost and the ones who hold us up.

The celebration will begin with a welcome at 6 p.m. followed by videos, photo contests and a family testimonial. There will be a silent auction throughout the night, a raffle drawing, and we will announce the 2021 Debbie Hofbauer Compassionate Care Giver Award. This year may be a bit different, but we were sure to include special aspects of the Trinity Hospice Ball you’ve come to appreciate over the years. And, even though we are not together, who says you can’t have your own dance party at home?

As co-chairs we take this charge very seriously. We have experienced the difference hospice makes and we know our community is a better place because UnityPoint Health – Fort Dodge has placed a high value on end-of-life care. The hospice team has cared for our loved ones and we want to ensure this service is available for everyone who wants or needs it.

UnityPoint Hospice serves individuals facing a life-limiting illness, and provides expert medical care, pain and symptom management, as well as emotional and spiritual support tailored to meet the patient and family’s needs and wishes.

The proceeds from this event are used for patient supplies and equipment, such as communication devices, music, library resources, activities and tools to assist dementia patients and end-of-life care for individuals without a pay source. Money raised also helps the hospice staff make sure patients don’t miss out on celebrating special occasions such as a baptism, wedding or birthday. Additionally, funds are used for family and staff education materials, bereavement programs and hospice volunteer training. Our community is very generous, and we are grateful for the additional services this event provides for hospice patients and families.

So now that we’ve piqued your interest, you are probably wondering how this all works. There are a couple options to choose from.

To participate in the live program, purchase a ticket and receive an email access code. Once you receive your access code, click on the link and it will take you to a Facebook log-in. You will need to know your username and password. Once you log in, Facebook will take you to the event. In addition to the program, we will have contest drawings throughout the night. Be ready to post some fun pictures to win great prizes.

We will utilize mobile bidding through GiveSmart for the silent auction. This has proven to be a crowd pleaser, but only gives you access to bid; it does not provide access to the Hospice Ball virtual event. We encourage individuals to pre-register so you can start bidding once the site goes live, approximately one week before the event. You can utilize your smart phone, computer or tablet.

To learn more, or pre-register, visit unitypoint.org/Foundation (Fort Dodge). You may also call Trinity Foundation at 515-574-6509 for assistance.

Please join us for the 29th Annual Trinity Hospice Ball on February 6, 2021. Everyone comes to the Ball with a different connection, but we all share the same passion – to support UnityPoint Hospice. We are grateful for your support and belief in providing compassionate care with dignity for those who are facing a terminal illness.
