Supports Moss for City Council

To the editor:

I am composing this letter to show my support for Jeanette Moss who is running for City Council in Ward 3.

I met Jeanette at Community and Family Resources in 2018 when I was beginning my sobriety journey. Jeanette herself was a couple of years in her journey, and she was bringing in a support meeting from the outside to encourage others. You know how they say there are pivotal moments, or people who come into your life at just the right time? Jeanette was one of those people for me. When she came into the treatment center, there was an air about her that contained confidence, joy, and self-respect to which I was immediately attracted. Jeanette encouraged me to apply for a place in a program that no longer exists, but that helped to save my life. I applied, was accepted, and then lived with Jeanette for close to two years. Living that closely with someone gives you a close up view of who a person is. While we may have had disagreements during that time, we learned valuable lessons of communication and problem solving.

I have watched Jeanette for the past seven plus years continue to work on herself, always striving to be better than she was the day before. She has a few catch phrases that I love. One is “We do the most!” Meaning that she is going to do whatever it takes to achieve her goals. I watched Jeanette go from spending six to eight hours a day working on papers for school, because she is dyslexic, to now having a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership Business. Jeanette’s other catchphrase is “Best day ever!” Even when things aren’t going the way she would like for them to go, Jeanette will find a silver lining.

I know Jeanette to be an honest and upstanding citizen, who will fight for the topics in which she believes. I am honored to write this letter in her support.
