Why not vote on everything?

To the editor,

With the latest submission of a petition forcing the “Case for Eight” franchise fee ordinance to a special election I question why does the city of Fort Dodge have a city manager, mayor, City Council, and city department heads? It seems to me the spirit of a representative form of government is dead in this town.

It’s obvious to me that all citizens of Fort Dodge are fully educated, nuanced, and aware of the workings of city government; especially when it comes to funding sources for public safety and infrastructure. I propose the city eliminate all facets of city government and let the citizens, who obviously know better than the professionals doing their job and the elected officials who represent them, vote on everything. Let us run our city, we will show you how it’s done.

Make Fort Dodge Great Again!
