To the editor:

It’s election time. It’s time for using the race card against Republicans. But wait. President Biden has now added the label “MAGA Republicans” and is calling Republicans Nazis, Fascists, and extremists. Biden doesn’t have the cognitive ability to realize there were MAGA Democrats and MAGA independents that supported Trump in his Make America Great Again effort. Democrats show no opposition as Biden insults 74 million Americans.

My dad was wounded fighting Nazis in Germany in WWII. He and millions served to ensure your freedom of choice at the ballot box. He would find it shameful and insulting to know his President called his sons and daughters Nazis simply because one or more of them voted to “Make America Great Again.”

President Biden has frequently asked: “What are Republicans for? What is their plan?” Look back a few years (until COVID wreaked havoc on the country and on the economy) to the last Republican administration to understand what Republicans (with or without Donald Trump) have to offer: energy independence, low inflation (1.6 percent when Trump left office, 8.2 percent in September), low gas prices ($2.33 Iowa average when Trump left office, $3.71 today), tax cuts for businesses and for millions of Americans, the lowest unemployment ever for Blacks and Hispanics, the lowest unemployment in over 50 years for women, a more secure southern border (as a result of “stay in Mexico” policy and yes, the building of a wall), unashamed support for law enforcement and the rule of law, support for veterans and a strong military, and the warp speed development of COVID vaccines that have saved millions of lives.

If that is the America you remember, if that is the America you want, then vote Republican.

If you make the 2022 election a one-issue election about abortion rights you are missing the bigger picture. Consider what Biden and Democrats offer: a woman being able to end her pregnancy (other than due to rape or incest or to save the life of the mother) by abortion for any reason, at any time, even up to the moment of birth (no restrictions at all), lawlessness and criminal behavior (thugs who “smash and grab” and attack innocent citizens, often in broad daylight) and an increase in violent crimes in our cities (the vast majority being Democrat-run cities) due to defunding the police, no-cash bail or no bail at all policies and due to Democrat governors and prosecutors hell-bent on releasing thousands of violent criminals from prisons in the name of prison reform, record inflation and gas prices, rising interest rates to combat inflation (inflation caused by Biden and Democrat policies), increased costs at grocery stores and restaurants, dependence on foreign governments for oil production, a border open to drug smuggling and terrorists, a military learning about pronouns instead of training to protect the country, in Biden’s own words we are at the edge of a nuclear war over Ukraine, parents who want to be involved in the education of their children being labeled as terrorists, and continuing to add to the national debt by more deficit spending (Biden’s policy to forgive student loans, for example, may add $400-500 billion or more to the deficit and debt), eventually having to raise taxes.

If that is the country and policies you want, then vote Democrat.
