SE class of 2022 is a special group

To the editor:

There is something to be said about having a best friend, but my son, Zach Smith, is lucky enough to say he has more than one best friend. Maybe I’m saying this because it’s my last child to graduate high school and I’m a little emotional about it, but there is something to be said about this group of seniors at St. Edmond High School. They are the tightest group I have seen in years. They are so close doing almost everything together, swimming and jumping on the trampoline at our house to road trip just to go eat somewhere, to driving to Des Moines to check out some property that one of their teachers said he bought to build a house on, to going to Twin Lakes, and staying at each others house to watch movies and just hang out. A lot of basketball has been played in our driveway over the years also. They support each other in all they do, going to cheer each other on in whatever sport they might be in at that time, guys or girls. I can say I have been one of the lucky moms to see it first hand cooking meals for them and having them at my house all the time and a lot over the past four years. My house has always been open to these kids and I always wanted them to feel at home here and I think they knew that because most of them knew where the drinks and snacks were at LOL!! But again there is just something to be said about this group – they are so close and that is so important to have close friends in high school these are the memories they will remember for the rest of their lives! I am so glad and proud that my son has such wonderful loyal, goofy fun loving friends and will have a lifetime of memories to have from these great guys and girls! I love you all and wish you all the best of luck in whatever you do in the future!!

Love The Smiths
