Appreciates support for church rummage sale

To the editor:

Thank you to everyone who helped us achieve our goal of raising money for missions at the First United Methodist Church spring rummage sale.

The ripple effect of the sale is amazing because not only do we raise money for missions, the donated items also benefit many other people.

We shared clothing, furniture, household goods, and books with 25 other organizations, including: Almost Home Humane Society of North Central Iowa, Baby’s Room at Upper Des Moines Opportunity, churches (First Baptist, Grace Lutheran, Trinity Methodist), D/SAOC (Domestic/Sexual Assault Outreach Center), Fort Museum and Froniter Village, Friendship Haven, Gateway to Discovery, Goodwill Industries, PICA (Pride In Community Appearance), schools (Duncombe Elementary, Fort Dodge Middle School and Fort Dodge Senior High, Southeast Valley Elementary), Scout troop 8B & troop 82G, Public Library (Fort Dodge & Rockwell City), Heartland Hope and Homes (formerly Habitat for Humanity), retired school personnel, Twin Lakes Bible Camp, Veterans Clothes Closet, Village General Store and YWCA.

The church rummage sale would not be a success without the help and support of many people. Thank you to:

• The Messenger who helped promote the sale with ads, the Community Calendar, and “Go and Do” listing.

• Scout troop 8B & troop 82G who set up the tables for the sale.

• The many people who donated items and helped at the sale.

• The people who support our missions by purchasing items.

See you on Oct. 7-9 for our Fall Rummage and Bake Sale for Missions.

The Committee:

Deanna Rhiner, of Fort Dodge

Phyllis Wilson, of Fort Dodge

Dori Snow, of Fort Dodge

Pat Bennett, of Twin Lakes
